Gain real career advice from real people with Real Talk
Real Talk, a new app for the iPhone/iPod touch, is a piece of mobile software designed to help young people pick the perfect career for them.
You can download the application now, and it’s available from The Learning Partnership free of charge on the App Store. It requires iOS 8.0 or above, but what does the software offer?
Well, in essence, Real Talk provides iPhone/iPod touch owners with a collection of crowdsourced stories “from young professionals who’ve survived the job market.” These stories, from professional YouTubers, barbers, broadcasters, and aquarists (among others), provide young people with an insight not only into that particular career, but into the process of applying — and securing — a job.
The Learning Partnership explains in the app’s release notes:
Picking a career isn’t easy. It requires making tough choices, opening some doors and closing others. Post-secondary education is no longer a safe bet, nor is it the only bet you can make after high school.
Which is why it’s time to get real. You need relevant and timely advice from people who have been there, done that, and are willing to share awesome insights into their journey.
In the application, then, besides listening through these “real talks,” iPhone owners can also bookmark, like, and share the careers which interest them most. In this respect, young people are able to use the app to build “a checklist of resources” to help them plan life after high school.
You can download Real Talk now on the App Store, and as mentioned, it’s optimized for the iPhone/iPod touch. The app requires iOS 8.0 (or above), and it’s available free of charge.
