Puzzle adventure game Lumino City is even better with Apple TV
Some games work quite well on the iPhone and iPad, but you can tell when you first look at them that they’d be perfectly suited to a big screen television. When Christine Chan reviewed Lumino City and pointed out that “the graphics are stunning,” I took a look and knew this game had the visual appeal to be gorgeous on the Apple TV.
Great minds think alike
State of Play Games must think the same, because they’ve recently unleashed Lumino City on the big screen by way of the new App Store on the Apple TV. The handmade graphics, crafted from paper, cardboard, miniature lights, and motors, look stunning on my HDTV.
Simple controls
I’ve only scratched the surface of Lumino City on the Apple TV, but it’s remarkable how simple the controls are. One of the things I really like about playing games on the Apple TV is the fact that my fingers don’t get in the way the way they do on a touch screen, and Lumino City highlights that. The simple point and click controls work flawlessly with the Siri Remote in a way they simple cannot on an iPhone.
Amazing gameplay
I love being able to sit back feet from my television, and make my way through the puzzles of Lumino City. This might be a port from iOS, but it certainly doesn’t feel like one. The zoom levels seem perfectly suited to armchair or couch play, and the stop motion action of the game is well received on the television.
My colleague, Christine Chan, highly recommended Lumino City for the iPhone, and I have to agree that it’s a fantastic game. It’s even better on a larger screen, though, so I definitely suggest you try it out. Chan says, “This is a puzzle adventure that is worth every penny,” and the fact that your $4.99 purchase gets you the game on Apple TV, too, makes it even better.
