Tinder introduces smarter profiles for smarter matches
Tinder, the popular swipe-based dating app, has just received a major update that features notable improvements to user profiles and other aspects of the service.
Improved profiles
Most notably, the latest update to Tinder lets users add information about their work and educational background to their profiles. So, if you feel like including what your job and where you studied in your profile, you can now do that. This increases your chances of getting matches, potentially from your fellow alums or from users who are quite impressed with your occupation. Conversely, you’ll have more pertinent information to go by when deciding whether to swipe left or right on someone else’s profile.
Speaking of pertinent information, the new version of Tinder sees the introduction of smart profiles. With its upgraded algorithms, Tinder now recommends profiles that have more potential to result in matches. What’s more, the app now highlights profile information that may be of utmost interest to you, such as when you and the person whose profile you’re viewing both went to the same school or otherwise have things in common.
Other improvements
In addition to improved profiles, the latest update to Tinder brings support for usernames and sharable Web profiles, and delivers other enhancements.
Of note is the revamped match screen, which now separates the matches you haven’t messaged from those you have.
And then there’s support for Spotlight in iOS 9, allowing you to quickly search your Tinder matches right from your device’s home screen, and support for 3D Touch on iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, allowing you to press down on the app’s icon on the home screen to quickly message your matches or Peek and Pop to preview conversations from the match screen.
Designed for iPhone and iPod touch, Tinder is available on the App Store for free. It offers in-app purchases for upgrading to Tinder Plus, which includes Passport (swipe anywhere in the world), Rewind (bring back your last swipe), and additional Super Likes.
Super Likes were introduced to Tinder through its previous major update, which was released in September. A Super Like is given to someone by swiping up on that person’s profile, thereby letting that person know that you’re particularly interested in forming a match with him or her.
