Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon adds a great new campaign

Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon, the popular mobile strategy game for Apple’s iPad which launched on the App Store back in June, has received a great, content-expanding update that adds a brand new campaign to the application.

Called “Ork Hunters,” the new campaign can be accessed right now, in version 1.09 of the application. With surviving Orks still roaming the planet even after the conclusion of the Second War for Armageddon, Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon’s Ork Hunters campaign sees these survivors leave spores in the Equatorial Jungle. These, in turn, have grown, resulting in feral Orks “threatening the stability and rebuilding of Armageddon,” according to developer Slitherine.

In a recent blog post, the developer continued:

To put a definitive end to this scourge a special force is assembled. Hardened by the fires of thousands of battles, these veterans will purge the equatorial jungles of this infestation, giving their lives for the greater glory of the God Emperor of Mankind: these are the Ork Hunters!

To help these warriors in their mission, Inquisitor Horst – sent to Armageddon as one of the relief forces – will offer his support. The devastation wrought by the Second War is a breeding ground for corruption and could lead to something even more dangerous than the feral Orks!

So, the campaign is set soon after the end of this Second War of Armageddon, and as such it adds a brand new chapter to this epic, and ongoing, saga. Aside from continuing the story, however, Ork Hunters also adds new Ork units to the Warhammer game: these are Ork Hunter Company Command, Infantry, Flamers, Anti-Tank Support, Fire Support, and Snipers.

Of course, you’ll need to own Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon on your iPad in order to take the new campaign for a spin. It’s available as an in-app purchase (IAP), and this can be purchased directly on your device.

All in all, there are three campaign acts to work through in Ork Hunters: “The Jungle Hunters,” “Ferals and Heretics,” and, finally, “Cleaning House.” For fans of the Warhammer universe, this is an update you don’t want to miss.

You can download the recently updated Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon now on the App Store, and it’s optimized for the iPad only. The application itself retails for $19.99, and the new campaign, which is available as an IAP, costs just $4.99.
