Chatting with coworkers, clients, friends and others is easy as Pie
Slack may be the team collaboration tool of choice for many, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t any excellent alternatives out there particularly for work-related messaging. One such piece of software is Pie, whose official iOS app has just received a significant update.
Easy as PiePie is a private and secure messaging app that lets you message your colleagues quickly and easily with an interface that’s rather cheerful and vibrant — far removed from the usually stiff and serious designs of other team chat apps.
With Pie, you can keep in touch with your coworkers so that you can continue collaborating on projects, brainstorming ideas, or discussing just about anything.
Freshly baked PieReleased in July 2013, Pie for iOS has just been updated to version 6.0 with some notable enhancements.
Perhaps the most notable change brought about by the update is that the app is now available for private email addresses as well as work email addresses. This means that you can now sign up for a new Pie account or join a Pie team using a personal email address (like a Gmail address) instead of a work email address (like one that uses your company’s domain). This also means that you can now set up teams to chat with people outside your company, including partners, clients, friends, and others.
Pie 6.0 also introduces a simplified and revamped interface that conveniently sorts recent chats by time, allows for manual reordering of group chats for faster access, and displays links in a more visually appealing manner. Moreover, it includes a new set of avatars to choose from and support for changing a team’s avatar and name.
The new version of the app also features 3D Touch support for quickly chatting right from the home screen on iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus, and Spotlight integration for searching chats directly from the home screen on iOS 9.
