Paper Monsters gets Recut once again to be completely free on iOS
There’s a new Paper Monsters game on iOS from Crescent Moon Games. And it’s called Paper Monsters Recut!.
Now, iOS gamers familiar with the Paper Monsters 2.5-D platformer franchise may be wondering, “Wasn’t there a Paper Monsters Recut game released by Crescent Moon earlier this year?” Well, if you’re one of those people, then you’re right, there’s already a game called Paper Monsters Recut on the App Store.
But see, this one’s different: Paper Monsters Recut! — with an exclamation mark.
The same game
Paper Monsters Recut! is essentially the same as Paper Monsters Recut. Both are iOS ports of the Paper Monsters Recut game for PC and Wii U, which itself is a kind of remastered version of the original Paper Monsters. And both have players using touch controls to complete 2-D platforming levels set in a paper world with vibrant 3-D graphics.
But it’s free!
But where Recut! actually differs from Recut is in its pricing. While Recut costs $0.99, Recut! is free to download from the App Store.
Recut! offers the full gaming experience for free, but with a catch: It includes ads.
There appears to be no in-app purchase to get rid of the ads. So if you’d like to play the game without the potential distraction of ads, then you’re better off paying for the $0.99 but ad-free Paper Monsters Recut.
A mere exclamation mark differentiating the two versions of the same game is likely to cause some confusion. But in its defense, Crescent Moon says that adding “Free” to the name of a game tends to discourage people from downloading the game, thinking it’s just a lite version.
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 8.0 or later, the ad-supported Paper Monsters Recut! is available now on the App Store for free.
The original Paper Monsters and the non-exclamatory, ad-free Paper Monsters Recut are available on the App Store for $0.99 each.
We here at AppAdvice are fans of the Paper Monsters franchise. So we recommend getting Paper Monsters Recut! if you’d like to try the acclaimed Paper Monsters platforming experience without having to pay for it.
