Product Hunt's iOS app gets a mammoth update

Product Hunt, the popular online service for up-voting technology products and ideas, has sent out an update for its free iOS application adding a handful of new, much appreciated features.

In fact, today's update has turned Product Hunt's iOS app from a relatively simple piece of software into something rather more robust and complex. Let's take a closer look at the update.

Books, games, and podcasts, oh my!

Indeed, support for books, games, and podcasts has been added in the revamped and improved Product Hunt for iOS, allowing users to engage with a bigger than ever community of up-voters. There's an in-app podcasts player, allowing iOS device owners to discover new podcasts using the application, and given the growing range of great Apple-focused podcasts available at the minute this is something we're pleased to see.

That's not all, however. Because as Product Hunt notes online, the app also supports 3D Touch on Apple's iPhone 6s and 6s Plus handsets (allowing for quick and easy access to a range of different shortcuts). There's also enhanced integration for Spotlight, too: something made possible thanks to iOS 9.

Collections can be created by users in Product Hunt for iOS, right from the app itself. You can also check on a Popular feed inside the application, too, and all of this further serves to enhance product discovery in the app — which is, after all, what Product Hunt is all about.

Product Hunt's Ryan Hoover summarized the changes online, noting:

A few weeks ago we launched a new ProductHunt.com (thanks again for all the feedback during the beta!). Today, we released 3.0 of Product Hunt for iOS, our biggest update to the app yet. It includes all categories (tech, games, podcasts, and books), LIVE Chats, collections, a new Popular feed, and of course search. We also added some fancy iOS 9+ features, like 3D touch and Spotlight search.

So, there you have it. All that's left for us to say is this: if you haven't already, go grab Product Hunt now. It's available free of charge, and if you haven't guessed, is well worth the download.
