Yarn for Messenger offers a great way to share video clips inside Facebook Messenger
Yarn for Messenger, a free application for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad, offers a great way for iOS device owners to find and share clips inside Facebook Messenger.
Find, share, embed
You see, Yarn offers a huge selection of videos inside its iOS app, and these are fully searchable. There are two tabs in the app’s main interface, Popular and Discover, and each one provides a great means for iOS device owners to find videos which are either popular among users or which may otherwise be of interest. Checking inside of Yarn today, for instance, reveals clips from “It’s a Wonderful Life,” “A Christmas Story,” and “Home Alone.” Of course, given the time of year, these are some of the most popular videos sent using the Facebook Messenger platform currently.
The search interface is useful, too, and takes over a small section of the app’s top-right corner. Videos are then displayed in a list of search results.
Once you’ve chosen a video you’d like to send using Facebook Messenger, simply tap it, and hit the big blue “Send” button in the center of the screen; you’ll then be taken over to the Facebook Messeger iOS app (which you’ll of course need to have installed), and your chosen clip will be ready to send to a lucky Facebook friend.
You can watch video clips inside of Yarn in order to check they’re appropriate before sending them off, and an “Emojis” interface also allows users to choose a pictorial image to send to pals. Here’s a complete list of features made available in Yarn, as outlined in the app’s release notes:
- Find a video clip by word, quote or lyric from all your favorites online. Watch what you found quickly and see clips that are related to it.
- See hot clips for the day and what others are searching, discovering and sharing.
- Surprise yourself by finding interesting clips through our unique discovery engine.
- Take emojis to the next level and find a clip for that exact feeling.
It’s indeed also possible to embed your Yarn-sent videos online using a dedicated embed code, and the service’s full video catalog is available online (and is fully searchable there, too).
You can download Yarn for Messenger right now on the App Store; as mentioned, it’s available free of charge, and is optimized for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad.
As mentioned, you’ll need to download Facebook Messenger on your iOS device, too, and this is also available for free.
