Universal:

iCal Widget ($1.99 → Free, 3.9 MB): View all of your calendar events from the Today view with iCal Widget. It’s for those who are always looking for new ways to save some time.

iCal Widget isn’t a standard calendar app in any way, shape, or form. It taps into your iDevice’s native calendar app in order to populate a Today view widget with everything that’s coming up on your schedule. When you launch the app itself, you’re greeted with ways to customize the look and content of the widget. iCal Widget includes a day timeline, a week timeline, and the ability to scroll through days and weeks.

iCal Widget is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 10 ratings.

DayCost Pro – Personal Finance, Money Manager, Income, Expense & Budget ($2.99 → Free, 32.2 MB): Track your expenses throughout the day with this easy to use finance app. It’s ideal for anyone who wants a simple and elegant way to keep tabs on their finances.

It takes mere seconds to record a transaction in DayCost. Just swipe down on the screen, pick a category, enter an amount, and swipe up to record. You’re also able to attach a payment type, photo, and note to your transactions. DayCost allows you to create a budget and view graphical reports to keep your finances in check. Fishing With Grandpa ($2.99 → Free, 49.2 MB): Your little ones get to head out on a fishing adventure with grandpa with this educational app. It’s designed for children ages three through six.

Fishing With Grandpa is loaded with activities for your little ones to enjoy. Once they set out on their adventure they’ll get to play underwater games, choose a lure, cast a line, and hook and reel in fish. Grandpa will guide them along the way, so you can just hand off your iDevice and let your child enjoy. The app includes seven educational mini-games, six instructional videos, and loads of positive reinforcement.

Fishing With Grandpa is available for free today only (01/09). It has a 4-star rating with a total of 8 ratings.

Squares: Puzzle Game ($0.99 → Free, 10.0 MB): A minimalist logic puzzle game that has you trying to match squares to dots. It’s ideal for casual gamers who appreciate simple and clean artwork.

Squares is all about not pushing yourself into a corner. The idea is to tap on squares in order to move them on to their matching circles. You’ll have to utilize all of the squares to push others into their appropriate paths. There’s only one solution to each level, so think ahead before tapping. Other gameplay altering mechanics will be added as you progress through the game to make things more challenging. It includes 48 levels and iCloud integration.

Squares: Puzzle Game is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 1093 ratings.

Expired (gone back to paid already):

Starseed: Origin ($1.99 → Free, 32.4 MB): Take down massive dreadnoughts in deep space in Starseed: Origin. It’s for fans of classic vertical shooters.

Starseed: Origin is unabashedly retro. Everything from the visuals to the obscene difficulty level hails from gaming’s glory days. You’re able to pilot your ship by placing your finger anywhere on the screen. It’s then up to you to take out all of the enemy ships and asteroids standing in your way before setting your sights on the dreadnoughts. The game rewards you for stringing together combos, so take aim and climb those Game Center leaderboards. Starseed: Origin includes nine ships to unlock, nine chip tunes, and nine dreadnoughts to defeat.

Starseed: Origin is available for free for a limited time. It has a 5-star rating with a total of 15 ratings.
