Today’s apps gone free: Pomodoro Time, Symmetrain, Gratitude Journal and more
iPhone:
Gratitude Journal will help you better appreciate the little things in life and be more positive. All you have to do is consider the great things that happened to you throughout the day and record them as journal entries. Try to aim for at least five things. Really push yourself. Each entry can include location data, photos, and even the people involved. When you’re done reflecting you can share your entries or keep them private. An inspirational quote or motivational advice will appear after each entry. The app also includes the ability to export entries, reminders, a slideshow view, and the ability to backup entries.
Gratitude Journal ~ the original! is available for free for a limited time. It has a 3.5-star rating with a total of 3796 ratings.

Puzzle pieces appear in the top right corner of the screen, and your child must drag and drop them into the proper cutout space. As each piece is placed, a new piece and cutout will appear. The game includes a variety of adorable animal characters that react in different ways.

This tried and true technique helps you define clear goals and get them done faster by setting aside blocks of time. You’re able to create as many tasks as necessary and organize them however you wish. Then hit play and get to work. The timer will count down from 25 minutes and chime when the time is up to provide you with a short break. Repeat the process over and over until you’re done for the day. You’re able to adjust your Pomodoro and break durations within the settings menu. You’re also able to choose custom alarm sounds, jump between tasks, and even monitor your timer within Notification Center.
Pomodoro Time Pro: Focus timer for work and study is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4-star rating with a total of 304 ratings.
Water, wind, life, fire, and earth elements populate your screen. Drag your finger across adjacent matching elements to connect three or more and remove them from the board. If you’re having troubles matching, you can mash the elements down with the tap of a button. Asteroids will also enter your screen, and you can remove them by including them in your matches. You’ll want to remove them as quickly as possible because they will speed up your timer. The game also allows you to unlock power-ups, which can help you remove specific elements from the board.
Element Mash is available for free for a limited time. It has a 5-star rating with a total of 6 ratings.
Pick a train and your journey will begin. As your train speeds ahead you must try to pick out the trees, bushes, rock formations, and other objects that are on one side of the tracks and not the other. If you miss a difference or tap incorrectly, your train will get delayed. If it gets delayed too much it will disappear from sight and the game will be over. You can pull the emergency brake to slow things down for a bit when things get hectic and get your thoughts straight. The game includes eight environments, iCloud integration, and achievements and leaderboards via Game Center.
Symmetrain is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4-star rating with a total of 391 ratings.
