GPS Navigation Hiking Compass

Alexander Deplov

Store GPS locations and find your way back to them with this navigation app.

This is the perfect tool for adventurers and travelers alike. Especially those with an Apple Watch.

FREE ($1.99) For a limited time FREE ($1.99) For a limited time
Why we picked this?

We really enjoy using Anchor Point because of its simplicity. Just tap the “Add Anchor” button to pinpoint your location, and attach a name and icon to it. The location will be stored in your personal list where you can also share it with your friends. When you want to make your way back to your anchor point, just follow the compass or view the directions on the built-in map.

If you like to wander around outdoors, Anchor Pointer will become an indispensable tool. It will lead you back no matter where you find yourself. It’s great for remote locations where all you have is a compass to go off of and some coordinates.

Besides being able to name and attach an icon to your location, Anchor Pointer is pretty slim on options. You’re not able to store notes, photos, or any other additional information. It’s solely a navigational tool.

All of your walks are automatically logged and recorded, and you can filter your results and view them on a graph. Walk data can also be synced with iCloud, shared, and backed up. Walk Log allows you to craft your own routes by hand as well, and you can use them as your default routes.

If you enjoy keeping detailed fitness records, Walk Log is your app. The ability to tag routes and attach notes to them helps keep things tidy.

Shadowmatic

Shadowmatic

TRIADA Studio

Cast shadows and create recognizable silhouettes in Shadowmatic.

It’s for casual puzzle fans everywhere.

$3.99 $3.99
Why we picked this?

Shadowmatic is a work of art. It puts you in control of an abstract 3-D object. You’re able to rotate the object in every way imaginable. A spotlight is placed behind the object and projects a silhouette on a wall in the room. You must create something from that object that’s recognizable. It may not be obvious at first glance, but the silhouette will eventually take shape. The app includes 10 environments, 80 levels, secondary objectives, and atmospheric music.

If you’re tired of the same old puzzle games, you absolutely must check out Shadowmatic. There’s nothing like it in the App Store, and the graphics will take your breadth away.

The only reason to skip this one is if you simply can’t stand casual games.

IQ Mission 2

YUMMY Factory Sp. z o.o.

A collection of challenging logic puzzle games.

It’s ideal for gamers that enjoy a little variety in their puzzle games.

$0.99 $0.99
Why we picked this?

IQ Mission 2 has not one, not two, but three different types of puzzles to solve in three separate cities. In the first city you travel to, Tikal, you’ll be asked to move a coin between rotating fields in order to get it to its target. When you make your way to Tokyo, you’ll need to jump tokens to get them into their appropriate slots. Your trip to Barcelona will require you to rearrange pieces to form a specific shape. All in all, you will be tasked with solving 96 puzzles.

If you enjoy logic puzzles, IQ Mission 2 has a whole bunch of them for you. The rules are clearly laid out before you tackle each puzzle, so you won’t be left wondering what to do next. Hints are available, but they come at a cost.

IQ Mission 2 does include three types of puzzles, but once you get going you’ll realize that those 96 puzzles are more of the same. The mechanic can get tiring after a while, especially if you get stuck.
