Description:
Scientific Stopwatch is a three time system: two stop watches and a timer. Each stop watch may be activated by touch. Ounce a finger touches the stop watch time begins and does not end until the stop watch is released. This stop watch system was designed specifically for Novel Object Recognition Test for animal models. However, this application has been and may be used for other behavioral experiments (OVX social interaction) or used outside of a laboratory as well. The stop watches programmed in this application are not only accurate ,but also can record one hundredth of a second offering a more precise score.

When compared to a scientific stop watch, this application may not change the overall score but it will give a researcher the opportunity to score with confidence. Scores using this application were compared to an automatic NORT scoring program and produced very similar results with an R square value of .9889. In contrast, scoring the same novel object recognition test with scientific stop watches have an R square value of .9868. The difference may seem slight but precision and accuracy are necessary when analyzing behavioral tests.

So why should a researcher buy this application?

This application was inspired by a researcher who was fed up with having to continuously monitor a stop watch to make sure it was working properly. Scoring behavioral studies is much easier when one does not have to worry about outside variables such as stop watch errors. If you have had problems with stop watch errors or are looking for a method of scoring that provides more confidence in your results, than this application is for you. With all three timers at a researchers finger tips, one may score behavioral test video recordings or on site while the test is being conducted without worry of stop watch error.

Precautions:
It is advised that the device being used is on airplane mode to prevent disruptions
Clicking “Stop” for the main timer resets the timer, it does not pause it!
When this application is active it will not shut down the device therefore it is advised that the application be closed when scoring is finished.
Make sure that the device being used is properly charged!
