Afterlight Offers New Filters and More for Your iPhone Photography
Quite a few photo editor app developers push their title onto the App Store, and don't do much other than issue bug fixes after that. The folks behind Afterlight aren't like that. To the contrary, they are still producing new and interesting filters even five years after the app's first release.
Editing your photographs shouldn't require a degree in rocket science. With this app, it's quick and straightforward.
Afterlight allows you to have the control you need to properly edit your photographs, in a simple and easy-to-use interface. The controls you need are all lined up at the bottom of the screen in tabs, and there are plenty of them to choose from.
The obvious modifications are there, like clarity, brightness, contrast, and saturation. You'll also find controls to adjust the temperature and white balance of your exposures. Keep looking, and you'll find even more, like vignettes and filters.
You can also apply effects like dust and scratches, light leaks, instant photo effects, and more.
The app wouldn't be complete without cropping, which is there. You can also rotate your image or flip it, horizontally or vertically.
Finally, you can apply a number of frames to your image to make it truly unique.
This app gives you simple usage but full control over your photographs
Afterlight has plenty of tools and filters, but the developers aren't just sitting back on their laurels and letting you pay them money for nothing. They are hard at work adding new features. One update made it easier to start your project, by allowing you to swipe quickly up on the Home screen to make your library view full screen.
That same update also brought in four new filters. Dubbed Amber, Beryl, Onyx, and Pearl, you can find them at the far end of the Original filters list.
After you're finished modifying your photo, you want to get it out for people to enjoy. You can choose a file size, then save it either as a new image or replace the original. You can also save to Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram. There's even an option to order a mosaic photo book using a separate app. If that's not enough, you can use any of the Share Sheet extensions to send your image to others.
If you're after powerful editing and simple controls, Afterlight is a good choice. It offers what you need in a way that makes the app a breeze to use.
