The main advantage of LTE Advanced is 50 percent faster peak data speeds. It is now available in more than 450 cities across the country and covers 288 million people.

Thirty-nine different devices from the carrier are LTE Advanced capable, including nine from Apple:

  • iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone 6s
  • iPhone SE
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch
  • iPad Pro 9.7-inch
  • iPad Air 2
  • iPad mini 4
  • iPhone 6
  • iPhone 6 Plus

Any new Apple devices will be LTE Advanced capable, according to Verizon.

If you have a compatible device, there’s no need to do anything to receive the faster speeds.

Here’s a video showing the different between LTE and LTE Advanced speeds.

As in previous years, all four major carriers in the United States are preparing for increased traffic with a new iPhone launch.
