Apple has opened its long-anticipated retail store at the World Trade Center site in New York City. And in recognition of the store's historical and cultural significance, retail chief Angela Ahrendts was in attendance at its openining.

The new Apple Retail Store opened at the World Trade Center site in New York City on Aug. 16; the retail location was first reported a couple of years ago, and the store itself spans over two flores in the shopping zone of the Oculus Transportation Hub. In a Twitter update published on Aug. 16, senior vice president of Retail Angela Ahrendts noted that she was “humbled to have Apple at the World Trade Center,” adding: “we look forward to serving everyone in this remarkable community.” She included the above image with her Twitter update, which was sent from her personal account, @AngelaAhrendts.

We look forward to serving everyone in this remarkable community.

The new retail store itself was designed by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, and it's another beautiful venue. Below, we've included a video showing the inside of the World Trade Center store, as posted by CNNMoney at their YouTube channel.
