App Store customers rang in 2021 with a bang as they spent a record-setting $540 million on January 1. Apple shared that highlight and much more in a recent press release.

App Store customers rang in 2021 with a bang as they spent a record-setting $540 million on January 1. Apple shared that highlight and much more in a recent press release.Along with the one-day record on New Year’s Day, customers spent $1.8 billion on digital goods and services over the week between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Apple said a majority of the spending was driven by games.

Apple also announced developers have know earn more than $200 billion since the App Store launched 2008.

And starting this week, many eligible developers have joined the App Store Small Business Program that slices Apple’s cut to 15 percent.
