Prices, Names Leaked for Apple's Next Flagship Device

Apple Rumors
September 4, 2017

In eight days, we’ll know all about Apple’s next flagship device. Until then, we’re left with rumors. The latest “iPhone 8” forecasts have to do with possible names and prices for the handset.

Dutch site iCulture (Google Translate) says Apple’s upcoming 5.8-inch OLED phone will “definitely be called iPhone X.” Therefore, the entire 2017 iPhone lineup will look as follows:

  • 5.8 OLED iPhone → iPhone X
  • 4.7-inch iPhone 7s → iPhone 8
  • 5.5-inch iPhone 7s Plus → iPhone 8 Plus

This follows a Sept. 1 report from 9to5Mac that also claimed Apple wouldn’t use the name “iPhone 8” on the OLED phone. However, instead of “iPhone X,” they claimed “iPhone Edition” would be the name for the next flagship device.

Meanwhile, hyper-leaker Benjamin Geskin has taken to Twitter to announce the likely prices for the iPhone X model. He claims this information comes from a friend who works at Apple.

  • 64GB model, $999
  • 256GB model, $1,099
  • 512GB model, $1,119

These numbers sound about right, especially when you consider pricing for the current iPhone 7 Plus model:

  • 32GB model, $769
  • 128GB model, $869
  • 256GB model, $969

We’ll know soon enough. Apple’s fall event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. PDT on Tuesday, Sept. 12 from the Steve Jobs Theater on the Apple Park Campus.
