Apple Releases iOS/iPadOS 18.1, macOS Sequoia 15.1 With First Round of Apple Intelligence

Apple has just unveiled new software, highlighted by the first round of Apple Intelligence features for iOS/iPadOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1.

All of the new Apple Intelligence features are available on an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16. For the iPad, you’ll need a tablet with an M1 chip or later.

You can download the update by going to Settings > General > Software Update on your iPhone or iPad.

There are a number of Apple Intelligence features arriving in the new update.

With Writing Tools, you can rewrite, proofread, and summarize text.

Siri has a new look with a glowing edge around the screen that animates to the sound of your voice. You can also double tap at the bottom of the screen to type a request.

A new Clean Up tool in Photos allows you to remove distracting items in photos. You can also search for photos by describing what you’re looking. Just describe what you want to see for a memory movie.

Notification summaries will provide the most important information. You can also make use of a Smart Reply in Mail and Messages.

In Apple’s Mail app, Priority messages will show the messages that require your attention. Finally, you can see summaries in notes from a recorded audio or phone call recording.

Mac users can also tap Apple Intelligence with macOS Sequoia 15.1 To update, go to Settings > General > Software Update. You’ll need a Mac with an M1 chip or later.

Apple Watch users can now also download watchOS 11.1.

You’ll need an Apple Watch 6 or later, any Apple Watch Ultra, or the second-generation Apple Watch SE to upgrade. The update can be downloaded now through the companion Watch app on your iPhone by heading to General > Software Update in the My Watch portion of the app. You can also go to Settings > General > Software Update on an Apple Watch.

Your watch needs to have more than 50 percent power and connected to a charger. Like most Apple Watch updates, it could take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to complete, so be patient.

There’s no known new features in watchOS 11.1, instead the update focuses on behind-the-scenes improvements and bug fixes.

tvOS 18.1 is now also available for any Apple TV HD or Apple TV 4K. There are no known new features.

An update should automatically be downloaded.

If you haven’t already enabled automatic updates, you can download the software by heading to Settings > System > Software Updates > Update Software. Right next to the button to update software is the toggle switch to turn on automatic updates.
