The Apple Watch Nike+ is set to make its official debut a couple of weeks from now.
When is the launch?
As pointed by Watch Generation (via MacRumors), Apple has announced the launch date of the special Nike-branded edition of its new line of smart watches, albeit quietly through an update to the product’s official webpage. As indicated on the webpage, the Apple Watch Nike+ is available starting Oct. 28.
With that, Apple is making good on its promise of bringing the Apple Watch Nike+ to the market in “late October,” as stated by the company when it introduced the product along with the other models in the new Apple Watch Series 2 in early September.
What’s special about it?
Apple Watch Nike+ has all of the features that are built into each Apple Watch Series 2 model, including a dual-core processor, a brighter display, and watchOS 3. Most notably, it has built-in GPS, which enables tracking of pace, distance, and route without the need for a connected iPhone.
It also has a water resistance rating of 50 meters, which means that while it’s not advisable for use in deep-water and high-velocity activities like scuba diving and skiing, it may be used for shallow-water activities like swimming in a pool or ocean.
It also features the Nike Sport Band. “Made from the same durable, lightweight fluoroelastomer as the original Apple Watch Sport Band,” Apple explains, “the Nike Sport Band reduces weight and improves ventilation via row after row of compression‑molded perforations.”
Further, it features exclusive Nike watch faces and a complication for launching the Nike+ Run Club app, which offers a social network for dedicated runners.
How much is it?
The Apple Watch Nike+ comes in four designs or case-band combinations: Space Gray Aluminum Case with Black/Volt Nike Sport Band, Space Gray Aluminum Case with Black/Cool Gray Nike Sport Band, Silver Aluminum Case with Flat Silver/White Nike Sport Band, and Silver Aluminum Case with Flat Silver/Volt Nike Sport Band. Each design is available in 38mm and 42mm sizes, with the former priced at $369 and the latter at $399.
