Apple's iPadOS 15 Offers Better Multitasking, New Widgets
It’s time to update your iPad to the latest version of iPadOS. You can download iPadOS 15 by headed to Settings > General > Software Update on your tablet.
The update is compatible with most modern iPad models.
A Better Multitasking Experience
A major new feature in iPadOS 15 is a revamped multitasking. A multitasking menu will appear at the top of apps and allows you to start Split View or Slide Over With just a tap.
The new shelf will allow you to view all open windows for an app, like Safari or Pages. You can quickly switch between different windows and add or close a window.
Split View spaces can be created on a single screen with the App Switcher. You can create a Split View by dragging one app over another.
Keyboard users can create a shortcut for switching between Split View and Slide Over.
Home Screen Widgets and App Library
Home Screen widgets can now be placed among different apps, just like on an iPhone. There is also a new, larger widget size that makes the most of the larger iPad screen.
App Library is also making its way from iPad to iPhone. That will automatically organize apps into categories. It’s also built directly into the Dock.
Quick Note, Universal Control, and More
Along with all of the new improvements in iOS 15, here are some additional new features for iPad users:
- A system-wide Quick Note features allows you to quickly jot down a note with an Apple Pencil. The app also allows you to categorize notes and locate then with a Tag Browser and tag-based Smart Folders.
