This Image Should Get You Really Excited About Apple's Next iPhone
On Tuesday, Aug. 8, serial leaker Evan Blass took to Twitter to show the world what the “iPhone 8” might look like in a rugged case. It’s perhaps the best example yet of just how different Apple’s next iPhone is likely to be.
As you can see, the image shows a 5.8-inch iPhone 8 with the now familiar notch along the top of the device. From this location, you can see the camera, infrared sensor, and speaker components. The rest of the device features an edge-to-edge display without a physical home button. On the side, you can see cutouts for volume controls and a mute switch.
Apple’s almost certainly set to announce the iPhone 8 in the coming weeks alongside the “iPhone 7s” and “iPhone 7s Plus.” Most analysts and leakers are now on the same page in terms of the iPhone 8’s design. Most have also concluded that Apple has reluctantly abandoned plans this year to embed Touch ID capabilities into the display.
The biggest remaining question mark is whether Apple adds a physical home button on the back of the device or ditches Touch ID completely.
