Apple has just made the single sign-on feature live for all iOS devices running iOS 10 and later and the Apple TV running tvOS 10 or later. With the feature, users can sign in once and then receive instant access to all supported video apps included in a cable or satellite subscription.
Currently a small list of providers
No software update is needed as the feature is available to all iOS devices with iOS 10 or later and any fourth-generation Apple TV with tvOS 10 or later. On an iPad or iPhone, go to Settings and then Select TV Provider. With an Apple TV, go to Settings, Account, TV Provider.
Currently only available in the United States, these providers support the feature according to Apple:
- CenturyLink Prism
- Hawaiian Telcom
That list is expected to grow, though.
Single sign-on also ties in with the TV app for iOS and tvOS. The new app helps to unify the TV watching experience, allowing users to see all the shows and movies you’re watching, find upcoming episodes, and get personalized recommendations on what to watch next.
The TV app will launch when iOS 10.2 and tvOS 10.2 arrives to the general public. Those could both come in the next few days.
