Apple’s Town Hall conference center may have been intended for in-house meetings and events. Even so, the 300-seat facility located at Cupertino’s Infinite Loop headquarters has been used for public announcements on numerous occasions. With the 1,000-seat auditorium being built at Apple’s new campus, the event today, March 21, might be the last such happening for the venerable venue. Let’s take a look back at how Town Hall has been used to host the media in the past, as a way of possibly saying an early “Good bye” to an old friend.

A storied history of announcements

While many of Cupertino’s largest announcements have taken place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Apple has also made quite a few significant announcements right at its Town Hall venue at the tech giant’s headquarters. Here is a history of product and software presentations that have been hosted by the 300-seat conference center. Special thanks goes out to Jason Snell and Stephen Hackett at six colors for compiling the history of the Town Hall.

The final announcement at Infinite Loop?

As you can see, the Town Hall has been the home of many of Apple’s greatest, and even some of the company’s not so greatest, announcements. With the construction of a 1,000-seat auditorium at Cupertino’s new “Space Campus” construction, we may not see anymore such keynote presentations at 4 Infinite Loop. For that matter, the new auditorium may even suggest the possibility that Cupertino won’t need to use the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts again for such announcements.

When completed, the 1,000-seat auditorium will be mostly underground, as can be seen in the blueprints. It should be a lovely venue, but I’m going to miss the quaint, albeit tight-quartered, atmosphere mixed with modernity that Apple’s Town Hall offers.
