Analyst Estimates Almost Two-Thirds of Devices Ever Sold by Apple are Still Active
Taking recent figures from Apple, Asymco’s Horace Dediu recently estimated that almost two-thirds of all devices ever sold by the company are still active.
An estimate of active Apple devices.
Credit: AsymcoDuring the most recent Apple quarterly earnings call, CEO Tim Cook mentioned that there are currently 1.3 billion active Apple devices.
And Deidu estimates Apple has sold more than 2 billion devices. That includes the Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. Not included is the Apple TV and other accessories like AirPods.
A liked product will be used and a well-liked product will be used more. Usage is valuable not just in its intensity but also in its duration. When you see activity of a device it’s always a good sign if that is both frequent and long-lasting.
Using that estimate, Deidu also said there will be 1.8 billion active Apple devices around 2022.
Deidu’s estimates are definitely interesting and show that users are satisfied with Apple products. Can you imagine how many Android devices ever sold are still active? I’d wager to guess its a lot less than 64 percent.
