BarbarQ Is A Pixel Art Game With Lots of Style
BarbarQ is a new real-time multiplayer pixel art style IO game. We recently had the opportunity to discuss the game with the developers at Electronic Soul. Here’s what we found out.

Q: Can you explain a little about how BarbarQ works, and the genre it fits into?
A: BarbarQ is a casual multiplayer IO game, the 6 minutes 3v3v3 BarbarQ Arena is one of the main features in the game all you need to do is join up the battle with three squads, eat mushrooms, grab your skills, and defeat other opponents.
Q: What were your team's main influences when developing BarbarQ?
A: We were thinking about make a family game that is fun for any age, fast, fun and easy to play, that is how BarbarQ was developed.
Q: What specifics tools and techniques did you use to develop the game?
A: As you can see BarbarQ is a pixel art retro style game, so we used Cocos2D to develop it, combined with frame rate synchronization technology to optimize and smooth out the gameplay on low-end devices.
Q: What does BarbarQ offer that gamers can't get anywhere else?
A: Well, there are a lot of random skills you can grab in battle that makes for a unique experience
Q: Which challenges did you face during development, and how did you overcome them?
A: The game designed for all ages, so we lower the entire game difficulty in the beginning, but that caused team balancing problem sometimes, so we redesigned the matchmaking for newcomers to protect them.
Q: Which part of the game are you the proudest of and why?
A: Well, the BarbarQ Arena I think, the 3v3v3 mode is quite fun to play especially when team up with your family or friends.
Q: What tips do you have for people playing BarbarQ for the first time?
A: The game is quite easy, just five minutes of play will get you familiar with it.
Q: Do you have anything planned regarding future updates for the game, and if so, can you give us any details of what these might include?
A: There are more heroes and pets incoming.
Q: Have you any plans to bring the game to any other platforms in the near future?
A: Not at the moment!
