Baseplate is a Must-Have App for Any LEGO Fan

April 25, 2024

LEGO aren’t just for kids anymore. Everyone’s favorite brick building company has continued to expand with sets for pretty much any age. And if you can’t get enough brick fun, definitely check out the new app Baseplate.

The app is all about acting as a catalog and inventory system for the bricks you have and the bricks you hope to one day have.

There are three major sections of the app. The first, allows you to browse all of the different LEGO themes ever produced or search for a specific set. You can see information like age recommended, name, set number pieces, and more. On the set page, there is even a quick link to the building instructions and price.

With each set, you can also catalog each one as a built or owned set. You can even create a wishlist of sets you hope to one day own.

Another great feature of the app is the Vision option. Just point your camera at a LEGO box. The app will then detect the set from the ID or barcode and display all of the information.

Along with support for Shortcuts, the app also offers both home screen and lock screen widgets to keep track of your LEGO obsession.

Baseplate is available for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro. It’s a free download now on the App Store.

You’ll need a subscription to use the app. There are three options available—$1.99 per month, $12.99 yearly, or a $29.99 lifetime unlock. The yearly subscription option offers a free, seven-day trial to try out the app.

Even though I wasn’t a LEGO fan while growing up, I’ve really hit the hobby hard in the last few years enjoying the myriad of different sets made specifically for adults. Baseplate does a great job helping me keep track of what I’ve built and what’s next on my list.
