Braille Scanner Scans Paper and Translates to Written or Spoken Text

April 4, 2022

The new app Braille Scanner uses machine learning technology to translate braille on paper to spoken or written text.

Use the app to take a photo of a piece of paper with Braille on it. In seconds, the text will be translated. The current model uses Unified English Braille (UEB), grade 1. Additional transcribing models are planned for future updates.

Along with text, the app can also use text-to-speech to speak the results of the scan.

You can export translated text and even the Braille characters.

Braille Scanner is a free download on the App Store now for the iPhone.

You’ll need iOS 14.7 or later installed on your device.
