Bring Amazon's Alexa to Your Apple Watch with Voice in a Can

June 11, 2018

While Apple’s virtual assistant Siri slowly gets better, Amazon’s own Alexa continues to lead the way and is available on a wide variety of devices, with one big exception - the Apple Watch. But the app Voice in a Can takes care of that problem.

After downloading the app, you’ll need to make sure it’s installed on your Apple Watch. Follow the on-screen instructions and authenticate the app through Amazon.

Once that’s taken care of, you can easily have access to the service on an Apple Watch.

Just to note, the app will disconnect from Alexa every time your screen goes blank.

As a nice touch, you can add the Voice in a Can complication to almost any watch face to provide one-tap access to the app.

Designed for the iPhone and all iPad models, Voice in a Can can be downloaded now on the App Store for $1.99.

While far from perfect, Voice in a Can definitely help give users their Alexa fix in a pinch.

Even though you won’t be able to access audio books, music, podcasts, and some flash briefings, I found that it does a great job controlling smart home devices.
