Castro Podcast App Update Arrives With Apple Watch App, Redesigned Player Screen
One of the best podcast apps for the iPhone, Castro, has just been updated with a number of notable new features.
A new Apple Watch app will allow users to control podcast playback and choose new episodes from the queue to play.
Version 3.0 of the app features a rebuilt player engine that developer Supertop says provides a quicker start of playback and more responsive controls.
The player screen also features a cleaner, simpler layout when listening to podcasts. You can also star the current episode from the player with a double tap of the artwork.
AirPlay control are also available from the player screen.
Castro is designed for the iPhone and all iPad models. It can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.
You can take advantage of a one-week free trial of Castro Plus. After that, it will cost $3 for a three-month subscription or $9 for a year.
That subscription offers a number of more advanced features. Some of those include the ability to trim silence, set a start position for episodes of each podcast, and to skip or select chapters in certain podcasts.
Anyone who previously purchased Castro 2 can still take advantage of the night mode and enhance voices feature.
