Crypto Gaming Platform Arc8 Season 3 Introduces Basketball Game Hoop Shot
There’s a reason that “slam dunk” is the term we use to describe a job well done. For whatever reason, getting a basketball through a hoop is just about the most gratifying thing you can do.
That’s the basic principle behind Hoop Shot, a brand new casual game from Arc8 – launched as part of Season 3, which landed on the 1st of June.
The aim in Hoop Shot is pretty much exactly what you’d expect. There are hoops, and you need to take shots at them with a basketball.
These hoops blink into existence one after another as you make your way up the screen. Some of them bounce around on springs, moving up and down, left and right, or in a diagonal motion. Some are straight and some are set at a jaunty angle.
To make a throw you need to pull back with your finger and let go. If you’ve ever played Angry Birds (and, let’s face it, you absolutely have) you know exactly what you’re dealing with.
You start with three lives in Hoop Shot, and you lose one every time you miss a hoop.
There are power-ups to collect, too. These include a shield, which rescues one missed shot from the bottom of the screen, a power-up that increases the size of the hoops for a few turns, and a power-up that shrinks the ball.
Your shots are timed, and there are stars to collect. To get the highest possible score you’ll need to stick within your time limit, collect stars, and make clean shots that don’t bounce off the rim.
Upping the challenge is the fact that some stars and power-ups are on the opposite side of the screen from the baskets, forcing you to pull off tricky bank shots to maximise your score.
Meanwhile you’re working against a two-minute countdown, so each go is a frantic effort to stay alive while racking up as many points as possible with your sweet, sweet basketball skills.
It’s not only points that are at stake. Hoop Shot also rewards you with GMEE tokens. And this is where things get really interesting.
Welcome to the Arc8 Gamified Launchpad
Hoop Shot is just the first of what will become an ongoing project, with new games added every season.
These games will all appear as part of Arc8’s new Gamified Launchpad, which will see various different crypto tokens being offered up as rewards for participation. TOWER, QUICK, REVV were available in May, with SAND and MATIC included as part of Season 3.
