Darkroom 6 Arrives With Four New Mask Options
The powerful photo and video editor Darkroom has made a big leap forward with the update to version 6.0.
Copy and Paste Editing Options
The highlight of the release is the addition of four new masks types.
First up, AI-powered subject and depth masks create a 3D map of the scene in a photo to allow for editing of the subject, foreground, background and anywhere in between. It’s the same kind of editing for Portrait photos, but now it can be used for any image.
When editing Portrait and ProRAW images, you can use smart masks to single out the subject, sky, hair, glasses, skin or teeth.
You can use gradient and range masks to help single out an object or region in the photo.
Videos also support masks with realtime 4K playback.
With new copy and paste options, you can now also select exactly which edits to paste onto other photos.
Darkroom is a free download for the iPhone, all iPad models, and Mac.
To unlock all features, you’ll need a Darkroom+ subscription, which is now $4.99 per month or $29.99 per year. There is also a one-time payment option of $75 available.
Just to note, from now on, Darkroom+ features won’t be available to legacy customers.
The company noted:
As a courtesy to our long-time supporters, we provided new premium features for free for two years.
For the next two weeks, the company is offering a 30 percent discount on the yearly subscription to $20 a year.
