Don't miss out on what's around you with NearMinder

One of the nicest features of NearMinder, and one I’m still growing in my use of, is the custom alert capability. Just by putting in the name or category you want to get reminders for and then typing the text for your NearMinder, you can rest assured that the next time you’re at Best Buy, you’ll remember to use that RewardsZone card. NearMinder will even push the alert to your Apple Watch, if your iPhone is asleep.

Whether it’s an art exhibit or a concert, NearMinder can let you know about it. The app integrates with plenty of third-party sources, and gives you up-to-date information about events that are happening around you. From the list, you can tap on an event to see it on the map and get a description, and NearMinder even includes links to ticketing services like SeatGeeks to make it easy for you to buy your ticket to that concert you just found out about.

Want to find a group of book lovers who have their own reading club? Through its partnership with Meetup, NearMinder makes it easy to find those groups and hundreds of others happening near you. You can see the listing of nearby Meetups, tap on each one for more information, and then tap the link to get full details and sign up on Meetup’s website.

Whether it’s finding new places to explore near home, or getting the hottest attractions when you’re traveling, NearMinder has a tab for that, too. The app draws in data from Wikipedia and other sources to let you know what nearby points of interest are around you, and you can get easy directions to those locations just by tapping on the map pin.

NearMinder is designed for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, and requires iOS 8.3 or later. It’s a free download on the App Store, without any in-app purchases. The app does include very discreet banner ads, however.
