Fantastical 2 Update Brings Support for New iOS 12, watchOS 5 Features

October 4, 2018

One of the top third-party calendars available on the App Store, Fantastical 2, has just been updated with a number of new features for iOS 12 and watchOS 5.

The app now offers complications for the Siri watch face and the exclusive options for the Series 4 model - Infograph and Infograph Modular.

Anyone with iOS 12 can now take advantage of Siri Shortcuts to interact with the calendar app. Developer Flexibits provided some examples:

  • Set a phrase such as “Hey Fantastical” to automatically open Fantastical to quickly begin creating a new event or reminder using Fantastical’s parser
  • Show upcoming events or reminders as part of a custom shortcut using the Shortcuts app
  • Jump to a specific reminders list by creating a button on the home screen with the Shortcuts app
  • And more: You can see all of Fantastical’s available shortcuts in the Settings app under Fantastical

You can find the Shortcuts using Apple’s Shortcuts app or in Fantastical 2 itself.

Users can now also snooze events and reminders directly from a notification instead of having to go through the extra work of opening up the app. You can even choose how long to snooze the event.

On the Apple Watch, anyone with watchOS 5 can see events and reminders on the Siri watch face.

There are also new complications for the Series 4 faces – Infograph and Infograph Modular.

There are two separate versions of Fantastical 2 available on the App Store. The iPhone version is $2.99 while the app for all iPad models is $4.99.
