Using the Apple Watch Flashlight Mode in watchOS 4

That iThingy You're Wearing
October 3, 2017

One of the many new features in watchOS 4 that landed for all Apple Watch models last month, is something anyone with an iPhone is probably already familiar with. The handy flashlight mode has made its way to the smaller Apple Watch screen with a few unique twists.

To enable the flashlight, swipe up from your watch face to bring up the Control Center. After selecting the flashlight icon, you’ll see the first of three different options – a bright white light. Swipe left to see a blinking bright light and then a red light.

As a great touch, when you point the screen away from you, the Apple Watch will switch to the maximum possible brightness level. To exit the mode, just hit the Digital Crown to return to the main watch face.

Designed specifically for runners and cyclists out at night, the flashlight isn’t as bright as the similar iPhone feature. But it’s definitely a great feature when you need to shine a bit of light in a dark place.
