Focos Adds New Depth and Power to the iPhone's Portrait-Mode Photography
Portrait-mode photography on supported iPhone devices is powerful enough, but it's not perfect. Your focus point isn't always where you want it, and the blur and bokeh is less than unique. With the help of the right app, though, you can take your Portrait-mode iPhone photography to the next level.
After you capture your Portrait mode photograph, open it up in Focos. There, you'll find a world of creativity at your fingertips. It all awaits your command, ready to allow you to turn that admittedly striking photograph into a true work of art.
If you tap on the image in Focos, you'll see the point of focus change. This is terrific for getting your depth of field effect centered precisely where you want it.
Deep-press the photograph, and you can see what both components of the picture look like without a bokeh effect. Then you can adjust the aperture, moving the slider back and forth to get just the right amount of blurriness in your image's background.
Focos also allows you to change the bokeh diaphragm, using anything from a classic template for the blurred-out regions to fun icons like aircraft and the Apple logo.
Changing highlights and how vivid your image appears is also easy, requiring just the move of a slider. There's so much you can do with Focos, that it really has to be seen in action to fully appreciate the app.
Truly own your Portrait-mode photos and make them works of art
Focos also allows you to incorporate a number of effects into your images. You can adjust the brightness of both foreground and background components of your Portrait-mode photograph, as well as create a custom grayscale depth of field effect.
It's also possible to change the rotation and depth of the Portrait-mode picture. Once again, easy-to-use sliders await your command. You're able to customize just about every aspect of your masterpiece, tweaking it to capture just the look and feel you want.
Other effects include rain, snow, and dust filters. For good measure, Focos also provides you with the ability to rotate and crop your photographs, providing you with aspect ratio templates you can use if you have a particular image size and format you want or need to use.
I enjoy playing around with Portrait-mode iPhone photography, and can't wait to be able to make even more of the art form with the new features available on the iPhone X. In the meantime, and even after, the additional power Focos provides turns my art form up to 10 and lets my creativity truly shine through.
Use various bokeh diaphragms
Change up your bokeh diaphragms to give your portraits just the right look. From classic to fun diaphragms, you can really tailor the bokeh to your liking.
Save your masterpiece non-destructively
When you tap the Share icon, your image is saved separately. The original Portrait photograph is maintained in its original format.
Shift focus and change aperture size
Just because you snapped a Portrait Mode picture, that doesn't mean it's done. With Focos, you can change the photograph's focus and the aperture for the depth effect.
Apply stellar effects to your images
You can also use Focos to apply effects to your Portrait-mode images, either to a single component of the image or both.
