The great app uses ShazamKit to automatically determine what song is playing and then provide more information about the song. The information is accessible on the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.

Some of the info you can see on the app includes everything from title, artist, and artwork to more detailed info life band members, locations where it was recorded, and more.

And the app has recently been updated with a number of additional features.

One of the highlights is the ability to one songs in Spotify. Lyrics for a song are shown from Genius.com.

Other additions include the ability to see what samples are used in the song you’re listening to and whether the song is a cover.

With an auto-dim feature, the app will automatically brighten and fit the screen when a new song has been found. NowPlaying is designed for the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. It’s a free download on the App Store now.
