IFTTT Is Launching App Integrations for Developers
It looks like IFTTT (“If This, Then That”) could be coming to an iOS app near you. Because the Web automation platform is, according to a recent post, launching app integrations for iOS developers.
According to a blog post published by the folks behind IFTTT, “users will be able to discover and activate IFTTT Recipes without having to leave the partner's app,” once IFTTT functionality has been added to an iOS application. At present, iOS apps and services can be linked together using IFTTT's Web app, or one of its iOS applications. This new move should make it easier than ever to leverage the power of IFTTT on a mobile device.
And some developers are already on board. Ring Video Doorbell, a home automation-style doorbell that can be controlled using an app, is one such service. Jamie Siminoff, CEO of Ring, said:
Home automation users are looking for simple interfaces. We’re excited to give our customers that experience, where they can use products they love and find new value in Ring, right from our app. We’re ready to onboard a new audience that uses Ring, but doesn’t yet realize how easy it is to do so much more with it via IFTTT.
The Automatic car adapter, too, is also on board, with Buckley Slender-White, head of marketing, explaining:
Bringing IFTTT into the app was something we had actually talked about doing ourselves. We saw how our users responded to the Channel and we wanted to reduce the friction for everyone. So we were excited to learn that IFTTT was also thinking about creating those seamless experiences, and that we can plug right in.
This is a really smart move for IFTTT to be making, and it'll of course direct more users than ever towards its platform. This, according to IFTTT's CEO, Linden Tibbets, “is just the beginning of the value we can unlock for developers and users.” It's going to be interesting to see IFTTT continue to develop and grow, because the service really has gone from strength to strength in recent years.
