iTunes U Collections Headed to Apple Podcasts in September
Apple plans on moving iTunes U Collections to Podcasts next month. At the same time, iTunes U courses will no longer be available under a section on Mac/PC.
In a note to educators (via MacStories), Apple explains:
With this change, users can access your collections using the Apple Podcasts app on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV, and using iTunes on Mac and PC. Your public iTunes U Collections will automatically be migrated and all links redirected into Apple Podcasts at the time of transition. While no action is required for the migration, we recommend that institutions review their current iTunes U Collections and remove out-of-date or unneeded content before the transition to Apple Podcasts.
First introduced in 2007, iTunes U allows educators to offer free educational content through the iTunes Store. In 2012, Apple released the iTunes U app for iOS. The free app gives educators the added ability to offer handouts, quizzes, ebooks, and other content.
Apple will remove iTunes U Collections section from Mac/PC with the 12.7 iTunes update.
