Join forces with Sphero's BB-8 for your home-viewing of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'
This could be reason enough to pick up one of Sphero’s ultra-cute BB-8 toys – I mean, droids. Because according to the folks behind the app-powered BB-8, an update that’s been published in time for the movie’s Blu-ray release should see the droid sync-up with “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” in order to chime in, buzz, and whir at all the right moments.

This all sounds downright amazing, as Gizmodo rightly notes. And better still, the update is available right now on the App Store, meaning users will be able to enjoy the brand-new feature, called “Watch With Me,” as soon as the Blu-ray is in their hands.
Over in the app’s release notes, Sphero explains:

Now re-live the awesomeness of Star Wars: The Force Awakens at home with BB-8 by your side. The new Watch With Me feature in the BB-8 app allows your Droid to react, enjoy, and love the movie just as much as you.
Simply place your BB-8 in his charging base, connect him to the app, and select the new Watch With Me in the Main Menu. Kick back, relax, and enjoy the show with your favorite Droid by your side.
Of course, since the Sphero BB-8 app will need to be running in the background on your iPhone, it might be a smart move to plug your handset into the wall, too. Otherwise you might not have enough battery power left to tweet about the experience once the movie’s credits begin to roll.
Aside from this latest (and potentially greatest) feature, Sphero’s BB-8 can also explore your home, it can be used via an iPhone remote control, and it offers a neat holographic messaging feature. As Sphero explains in the app’s release notes, “this is the droid you’re looking for.”
