What I liked
What caught my eye was Modatta’s dazzling array of exquisite designs. They range from bold to subtle and masculine to feminine.
I received a Pink Marble case for review. It’s both beautiful and of excellent quality. The printed image on the case is as vivid as it appears on their site. Madotta is careful to note that their cases are not constructed from marble, snakeskin, cowhide, or any of the other materials they resemble. All of the cases are hard, smooth plastic.
Protection is not bad for a slim plastic case. There are precision cut-outs on the back for the camera and on the sides for each button and toggle. There is a slight lip that comes up over the edge of the screen, so your screen is protected if you place your iPhone face-down. The case adds minimal bulk to the sleek iPhone.
What I didn't like
Between the speakers and ports, so much of the bottom part of the case needs to be open that I can understand why it is left completely open on the bottom edge. But the top of the iPhone has no buttons or ports, so I didn’t understand why it is entirely open and unprotected there. I spoke with my contact at Madotta, and she explained that while a flexible case can be fully enclosed, a hard plastic case like this one needs to be open at both the top and bottom in order to be able to get the case on and off the phone.
Bottom line
As long as you’re not in need of heavy-duty iPhone protection, Madotta’s cases are sure to please. It would hard to imagine that anyone’s tastes wouldn’t be satisfied by this selection.
