CARROT Weather is known for its powerful features and a hysterical sense of humor. And the best third-party weather app available is getting even better with a major new update.

Version 5.0 will be obvious from the minute you open up the app. Instead of mostly black graphic elements, the new version looks great with a splashes of blue and white throughout along with updated graphics.
The changes don’t stop there. Another great feature are the different cards that provide important weather information, like the wind speed and sunset time, easily available right below the forecast.
Anywhere on the Weather tab of the app, just click on any information to see a great detail screen.
And if the look of the updated app isn’t exactly what you’re looking for, there’s no need to worry. Just head to the Customization tab inside Settings to take advantage of an Interface Maker.
That feature can be described as a great way to build you own app. You can customize the app by adding, removing, and changing the space between components that you see. If you don’t know where to start, there are also six presets to try out.
It’s a great way to see the weather information that’s important to you.
A New Pricing Structure
And all along with all of the changes, the app is also moving to a new pricing structure. The iPhone and iPad app is now avaialble to download for free.
That’s a significant change from the previous $4.99.
Anyone who downloads the app starting today will be able to find weather conditions on an iOS device or Apple Watch, change CARROT’s personality, and search for secret locations. Access to any other features will require a subscription.
There are three subscription levels:
Premium ($4.99/month or $19.99/year) provides additional features like weather data sources, notifications, customization, widgets, and Apple Watch complications.
Premium Ultra ($9.99/month or $39.99/year) includes all the features of Premium, plus rain, lightning, and storm cell notifications (where available), a weather maps widget, and quick data source switching.
Premium Family ($14.99/month or $59.99/year) includes all the features of Premium Ultra, with the added benefit of being shareable with up to five family members via Apple’s Family Sharing service.
There’s no need to worry if you’ve previously downloaded the app. You won’t loose any features with the new pricing structure. And your subscription price will also remain the same.
