Nest has recently announced that users can now activate a great security feature on their account – two-step authentication.

With the feature activated, even if someone is able to guess your account password, they’ll need your phone to access the information.

To activate the feature, open up the companion iOS app and then select the Menu icon on the top left hand corner. After selecting Account, choose the Manage account box. Choose Account Security and then turn two-step verification on. It will require you to sign in again.

During the initial sign in process, you’ll enter the email address and password. But with two-step authentication active, you’ll also have to type in the special verification code messaged to your phone.

Especially with the significant number of different smart home products available through Nest- including a thermostat, camera, and smoke/CO detector – it’s good to see the company roll out the important security feature to help protect users information.

If you have any Nest products at home, I would definitely advise you to enable two-step authentication as soon as possible.
