Niantic Reboots its First Game, Ingress, With a Big Update

November 5, 2018

Before Niantic became a huge name with Pokemon Go, the developer released another game using augmented reality technology - Ingress. And now that title is getting a substantial update with a number of new features.

Ingress Prime

Most importantly, the game is now known as Ingress Prime.

A new interactive training board will help train characters about the global game board, how to uncover portals, basic gameplay, and the storyline.

Other improvements include new menus, an inventory management system, one-finger map gestures, the ability to link to a Facebook account, and more security features to prevent cheaters.

In the game, players will need to choose one of two different factions, The Enlightened or The Resistance. They will then try to capture and defend portals located around them disguised as real-world landmarks to protect a powerful resource, Exotic Matter (XM).

Ingress Prime is designed for the iPhone and all iPad models. It can be downloaded now on the App Store for free. There are in-app purchases available.

Players of the Ingress will receive the new title as an update.

The developer’s first game before the hugely popular Pokemon Go has been renamed Ingress Prime and now features a number of new features.
