Petey AI Makes Its Way to the iPhone With a New Update
Arriving in early March, watchGPT made it easy for anyone to tap ChatGPT on their Apple Watch.
The app is now known as Petey AI after Apple cracked down on any app with GPT in its name. And it was recently updated with a big improvement. You can now access the AI on your iPhone.
Using the app on the iPhone is substantially faster than the Apple Watch with answers quickly appearing. Even if you don’t want to wait, the app will start a Live Activity so you can take care of other tasks while waiting for a response.
Anyone with an iPhone 14 Pro can tap the Dynamic island to view the answer. It will also appear on the lockscreen of all models.
For even more usefulness, you can switch out Siri with Petey thanks to Shortcuts support.
Whenever a link is provided in the response, a separate view will appear so you can easily head to the site on your iPhone.
On the Apple Watch, you an now send an answer from Petey on the small screen to your iPhone for use in other apps.
Petey AI is available for the iPhone and Apple Watch. The $4.99 download will provides unlimited GPT-3.5 use on the Apple Watch and a free, two-week trial of Petey Basic on the iPhone.
A subscription to Petey Basic on the iPhone is $7.99 per month and also provides unlimited GPT-3.5 use on your handset.
On the Apple Watch, a $3.99 one-time payment will provide unlimited GPT-4 use on the wearable device. As a nice touch, there are a number of complications so you can quickly access the app from a watch face.
Coming soon, a Petey Premium subscription option will bring unlimited GPT-4 access on your iPhone.
Alternatively, you can add your own API key to use GPT-4 on your own cost. That will let you opt-out of the app’s subscription.
