The new Fender Songs app pairs with the Apple Music catalog to help you practice playing the guitar, ukulele, or piano.

Millions of songs on the streaming music service are available to use through the app. Along with providing real-time synced chords for all three instruments, it will also show scrolling lyrics to the music.

Fender designed the app for musicians of all levels. There are three major ways to use the app.

In practice mode, you’ll see an overview of the full song with static cord charts, finger placements, and cord changes placed above the lyrics.

As the name suggests, play along mode will play the songs in real-time as the cord chart scrolls across the screen along with the lyrics.

Finally, in perform mode, players can view cord changes any lyrics while recording themselves with an audio backing track. That can be saved to view later.

There are a number of curated playlists from Fender and other great tools like a left-handed play mode, the ability to adjust the playback speed of the song, a metronome, and more.

Designed for the iPhone, Fender Songs can be downloaded now on the App Store for free. A subscription is $4.99 per month or $41.99 annually.
