Podcast App Castro Updated With Apple Watch Sync, Streaming
One of the best third-party podcast apps available on the App Store, Castro, has been updated with a number of new features for Apple Watch.
Wi-Fi and Cellular Streaming
The biggest addition on the wearable device is automatic watch sync.
With the queue auto-sync feature, the app will mirror your listening between the watch and iPhone so you’ll always have fresh content on whatever device you choose to listen on.
You can select to have 10, 20, or 30 episodes synced in the queue. Sync happens when connected to Wi-Fi. It’s also possible to start syncing on the app.
If you’ve downloaded an app to your iPhone and it isn’t on Apple Watch, you can just select the Send to Watch button.
The app can now also stream episodes in the queue over Wi-Fi or cellular.
Finally, you can control playback speed from the watch.
Castro is designed for the iPhone and all iPad models. It can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.
You can take advantage of a one-week free trial of Castro Plus. After that, it will cost $18.99 yearly.
That subscription offers a number of more advanced features. Some of those include the ability to trim silence, set a start position for episodes of each podcast, skip or select chapters in certain podcasts, and custom app icons.
