Popular Podcast App Pocket Casts Goes Free, Adds New Subscription Tier
One of the best podcast apps available, Pocket Casts, is now available to download for free.
If you’re looking for an alternative to Apple’s built-in Podcasts app, Pocket Casts is a great choice.
It’s easy to search for specific podcasts, publishers, and even hosts.
When playing a podcast, you can select to playback at 2x or 3x and trim silence.
You can also create custom filters to organize episodes based on a number of different options. As a nice touch, you can even listen to an episode without subscribing to a podcast.
With move to free, the app has also launched a new subscription tier. Pocket Casts Plus costs $0.99 per month or $9.99 per year.
Subscribers can access a number of additional features. The best one seems to be access to apps for macOS, Windows, and the Web. You’ll also have access to 10GB of cloud storage to store audio and video files.
The subscription will also unlock exclusive app icons and themes.
Anyone who has previously purchased the desktop version of Pocket Casts will receive a free, three-year subscription to Pocket Casts Plus.
Pocket Casts is designed for the iPhone and all iPad models.
Apple Watch users can also take advantage of the app on the small screen of the wearable device to listen to podcast episodes and more. You can also access the app on any car entertainment system compatible with Apple's CarPlay.
