And so, production begins …

Strong component sales in July suggest production on all three of Apple’s 2017 iPhones are “gaining momentum.” Recent supplier checks also suggest there will be no shortages at launch for at least two of these models, according to DigiTimes.

Heading into mid-August, it looks like the 4.7-inch “iPhone 7s” and 5.5-inch “iPhone 7s Plus” will both launch without supply constraints. Not surprisingly, the same cannot be said for the 5.8-inch “iPhone 8.”

As DigiTimes explains:

All of the three new iPhone models, including two TFT LCD and one OLED model, have entered volume production, said the sources, adding that there will not be shortages for the two LCD models, but the supply of the OLED version could fall short of demand due to high expectations for the model.

On Monday, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities reported similar claims and concerns. He noted the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus would launch without major problems, while the iPhone 8 would arrive with “short supply.”

As things stand, Apple’s expected to announce all three new iPhones during a press event in early September, alongside the third-generation Apple Watch and other goodies.
