Rome: Total War Arrives on the iPhone, iPad Version Updated With New Features
Popular historical strategy game Rome: Total War is making it way to the iPhone. Along with making the move to the smaller screen, a recent update has also brought a number of new improvements to the iPad version.
The iPhone version of the game has been built specifically with the smaller screen in mind and features a UI with context-sensitive buttons. For new players, the first time help system will appear automatically whenever you select a new screen or action.
Built with the latest version of Apple’s Metal API, the game features improved performance and graphics along with reduced battery usage.
Using Metal as well, the iPad version sports a new UI with detailed summaries of a faction, characters, and retinues. You’ll receive a gold, silver, or bronze rank for each battle won.
New color-coded tools to let you know if units are doing well or need help. Specific status boxes will show the health, morale, ammo, and ordered for the unit.
And along with a campaign map that allows players to merge deleted units and draw longer paths, there are new camera options and tilt control to get a better idea of what’s happening on the battlefield.
Rome: Total War can be downloaded now on the App Store for $9.99 and is designed for both the iPhone and all iPad models.
If you’ve previously purchased the game, you can download the iPhone version for no charge.
