Siri co-creator Dag Kittalus is back, this time showing off his newest creation – Viv.

Kittalus publicly debuted the voice-controlled assistant for the first time earlier today at TechCrunch Disrupt in Brooklyn. Here’s the complete introduction video.

As you can see, Viv is currently just an iOS app, but the company has much bigger ambitions for the technology. Kittalus and his team want “enable everyone to talk to everything.” The goal of Viv is to become a platform that developers can use to add a Siri-like intelligent, conversational interface to anything they can imagine.

During the demonstration, he asked Viv a number of extremely specific questions including “Will it be warmer than 70-degrees near the Golden gate bridge after 5 p.m. the day after tomorrow?” Viv had no problem with the answer.

It can also accomplish a number of other more complicated tasks like “Send Adam $20 for the drinks last night.” The assistant will automatically complete the request through Venmo. You don’t need to have the app installed on the device.

Along with showing off how Viv works, Kittalus also took time to explain more about the exciting technology works.

It will be late 2016 before Viv arrives in any usable form.

While the technology looks great, prepare to be patient. It will be late this year before Viv is launched in some form for public consumption. Developers supporting the platform will also be announced at the same time.

The on-stage demo was definitely impressive, and the technology looks to add a huge new layer of usefulness to the ubiquitous personal assistant.
